I prefer to let the student explain what they understand and then identify what they are struggling with in order to avoid wasting time covering issues that they are proficient in to ensure that the student gets the most out of the time.
I have completed over 22 years of school, including 3 degrees. Along the way, I have been required to take multiple standardized tests in order to achieve admission into both the schools and my profession and have perfected the skills of preparing for and taking standardized tests. I have worked with friends in helping them identify their strengths and the focus of the exam in order to formulate a study plan to make the most efficient use of study time. My various degrees and hobies center around the social sciences, U.S. History, and Government. I also have assisted other students in preparing for tests.

My teaching style will depend on your child's needs. I have found that the easiest way is to make notes and practice problems to go over, then allow them to show me what they can do. With writing, I prefer that your child do a rough draft before meeting with me so that I can show them what they are doing wrong and how to fix it.
In high school, I was frequently the one that people came to for help. It was then that I realized I was extremely good at teaching. My senior year, I spent all day helping four different math teachers, one of which was frequently absent. In order to keep her class from falling behind, she had me make notes and go over practice problems with her classes.
