I really enjoy working with students on an individual basis. I have found that some students feel embarrassed about asking questions while surrounded by classmates. The one-on-one environment helps the student open up and truly benefits the student. Therefore, it is important to me to create a welcoming setting where the student will feel comfortable. Through my teaching experiences, I have observed that most students have trouble figuring out how to start chemistry problems. I like to help the student create a mental flowchart of how to approach problems. Once the student gets over that initial hurdle, his or her potential really begins to shine.

To teach is to "impart knowledge or skill to somebody by instruction or example" while education is defined as "to develop mentally, morally, or aesthetically especially by instruction". I aspire to be an educator, as defined above. While I believe in the content of the sciences, I am interested in evoking the thought process to utilize the scientific method as a problem solving technique applicable to all areas of life. A Little Bit About Me...

At Bridgewater State College I started tutoring general chemistry and organic chemistry in the Fall of 2006. I am receiving my degree this May, and have already been accepted to a few PhD programs in chemistry. I am looking for a tutoring job or jobs for the summer, and possibly for longer. I have tutored small groups of five to eight students for chemistry. I have tutored general chemistry, organic chemistry, and chemistry in everyday life, which is a course for non-chemistry majors.
I strongly believe that all students can find success as long as they work for it, and are encouraged to reach their goals.
