Deep understanding of math concepts

I usually start a topic by proposing a problem and making the student minds to think and naturally bringing up the concepts in the topic. Then I elaborate to explain the topic, usually drawing graphs, diagrams, etc. if necessary. To learn a specific skill, for example in Algebra or Calculus, I usually apply and explain the procedure for a few simple example and then explain the technique as a general procedure.
I am a math PhD student at Michigan State University with experience of teaching Calculus for 8 consecutive semester. Before that, back in my home, I have been teaching Algebra, Geometry and Discrete Math to high school students for more than 6 years. I have also several years of experience in teaching math preparation courses for student mathematics olympiads to smart and talented students.

My teaching style would be to find the student's primary learning style and converting the information he or she needs into a format that fits that learning style. Each subject would be made as visible or concrete as possible, so that the student could interact with the material on more than just a visual/conceptual level.
