In my experience as a teacher, i have taught children as young as 4 to retired adults who wanted to play for a hobby. My passion to teach music is driven by the realization that musical ability, the enjoyment, and sense of accomplishment can last a lifetime. Music in itself becomes its own reward. I am sensitive to differing learning modalities and try to use a very kinesthetic approach to teach rhythm and as a teaching strategy for the physical movements required for playing various instruments. I believe children can learn in their own personal ways. I work with them to find their strengths/things they love, to help learning be more fun & productive. I teach through discovery (trial/error), tactile (hands-on), play, & also providing a positive approach/praise to learning. I believe all children can meet their potential if they are given the appropriate surroundings & learning experiences. I love seeing the child's face light up-catching that "ah-ha" moment (that they understand), being SO excited that they learned something new for the first time, or them being SO proud of overcoming something that was difficult to them. A Little Bit About Me...

My teaching style is is very "hands on." Once I know what learning style my student is,I manipulate my instruction according to their different learning styles whether they be visual, audio, etc. I am a firm believer that every child can learn, as long as they have the support they need. As a teacher, I consider myself to be patient, encouraging, and easy going. I try to make my student feel as comfortable as possible, and that depends a lot on the atmosphere of the room and the attitude of the teacher. I do set high expectations for my students because I cannot help but believe that they can achieve anything they set their mind to with hard work and a right attitude.
