Hi there! I took ASL four years ago and fell in love. I have since taken ASL 1-4 and now am in my last semester of ASL Interpreting. I plan to continue my education and get a BS in interpreting starting Summer 2015. I have taken Deaf Culture, Linguistics, Educational Interpreting, Special Setting Interpreting, and Businesses Ethics in Interpreting. I have all of my textbooks from over the years we can use to come up with a plan for studying. I always learned best by repetition. To memorize signs, it is best to use them in a sentence, so we will create short phrases to learn new vocabulary words.

I believe that tutoring is a great way to assist teachers. The reason I say this is because teachers often have many children in their classes and as a tutor I would be able to work one on one with a child who might need a little extra attention. I also thing that when children are given a chance to grasp difficult ideas they gain self confidence and become encouraged to persevere. I also believe that children can learn to love learning, and a child who is given the chance to be encouraged in their learning they will develop a love to the act of learning and therefore become life long learners. Although my undergrad degree is not the most prevailing, I have strong abilities in math. I have tutored many individuals throughout my life. My experience is approximately a year and a half. I am currently enrolled in the graduate engineering program at the University of Florida, in which I plan to graduate in the spring of 2012.
