My comments on tutoring Chinese : I was not only trained in second language development and bilingual education in school but also practiced my skills in the real classroom. After coming to U.S., I taught Mandarin Chinese to K-12 students at various levels. I taught Chinese for Elementary school students in Pennsylvania. My latest teaching experience was Mandarin teacher in a Chicago high school. In this high school, I initiated a 4-year Chinese program and taught students from Grade 9-11. In my class, students were not only learning the 4 language skills – listening, speaking, reading and writing, but also immersed in Chinese culture. In the last year of the program, some students were sent to China for their senior trip. I also had experience working with college and graduate school students. I had been Teaching Assistant for Chinese Traditional Culture Class in graduate school. This was an advanced graduate-level course offered to American students who were learning Chinese in China. Through the experience as both a foreign language student and an assistant teacher, I acquaint myself with the difficulties and needs of the students while they are learning a foreign language.

My education background focused on education issues in different countries and cultures as well as second language learning and teaching. I earned Ph.D. in International and Comparative Education at the Pennsylvania State University. I got my Master degree in International and Comparative Education and my Bachelor degree as a language teacher in English Education (Teaching English as a Second Language). Experience: Standardized Testing Scores: ACT - 35 SAT - 2300 SAT II Math II - 800 SAT II Chemistry - 800 SAT II Biology - 790 5's on all AP Tests listed above. I've been tutoring for the better part of two years. Through that time, I have gained an earnest understanding of what it means to be an effective mentor. I stand by my belief that knowing the information and teaching the information are two entirely different things. When I tutor, I use techniques that get directly to the heart of the information. I primarily tutor ACT/SAT prep, Math to Calculus III, and all the Sciences. I am also knowledgeable on the college application process and can help with editing papers, developing a resume, or just serve as a guiding hand through a crucial time.
