Depending on the subject, I utilize from my own academic career tools that I found were the most effective and most successful. More than willing to pass on my knowledge, I pledge to do my best in delivering the information in a concise manner that gets straight to the point.
Experience: Standardized Testing Scores: ACT - 35 SAT - 2300 SAT II Math II - 800 SAT II Chemistry - 800 SAT II Biology - 790 5's on all AP Tests listed above. I've been tutoring for the better part of two years. Through that time, I have gained an earnest understanding of what it means to be an effective mentor. I stand by my belief that knowing the information and teaching the information are two entirely different things. When I tutor, I use techniques that get directly to the heart of the information. I primarily tutor ACT/SAT prep, Math to Calculus III, and all the Sciences. I am ... read more

I believe all children can be successful learners, and I will do whatever possible to help them learn. My philosophy to successful learning is being an engaging, enthusiastic, knowledgeable teacher; establishing a respectful relationship with students; developing a student’s cognitive skills; motivating students; and providing relevant, challenging work.

Every student is different, therefore every student has different needs. Every student also can learn differently, whether it be by incorporating more or less visual learning strategies, auditory learning strategies, or using more of the "hands on" approach. Learning can be and should be fun! I love teaching a student to success and when they enjoy what they are doing they are much more likely to succeed!
As an active member of my community, in the form of pageantry, volunteering, and leadership, I have always enjoyed instructing others. Currently, I love my job at Midwest Generation as an Instructional Designer of Training. I get to train Engineers and Office Managers on subjects I knew little about, and have grown in responsibility and development. I love kids, since my summer camp instruction job I held all throughout High School as well as an active instructor at my church. I j ... read more

I would consider my teaching style as hands on. I love to work with children and know that I am giving the confidence to learn. I believe that every child has the ability to learn if they are given a safe learning space to explore their potential. I believe that being an educator is the greatest gift that I could give to anyone in need.
As a college graduate, I have earned a bachelor's degree in Economics, with a minor in Statistics. I have 2 years in a professional financial position. Along side of my finance career I assisted a friend of mine in the academia field. I assisted in creating lesson plans, grading papers, writing tests, and team building activities. Throughout my academic career I have always succeeded in math. I have always had a love of numbers and would love the opportunity to share my love and help others. I would describe my teaching style as innovative, flexible, and passionate. After observing and working with countless students, I have realized that every individual has their own style of learning. Therefore, as an instructor, it is my duty to differentiate my instruction so that I can appropriately teach to those specific styles. My instruction is infused with passion, which is exemplified in my insistent creation, reflection, and re-creation of teaching materials (based on how well the student grasps the material and in what manner they do so). I have a strong belief that, given the right instruction, each and every student can learn, succeed, and even excel academically.

I have two bachelor degrees, one in computer science, the other in mathematics with a type 09 cert (6-12). I belong to Mensa and the NCTM, and have excellent English and decent Spanish speaking and writing skills. I have taught and tutored in mathematics and computer science for quite awhile, and I earned a 95% on my PSAT and a 32 on my ACT.
Generally, I'm a constructivist, and I believe the best method of tutoring is providing a completely individuated scaffold for any student. While I was raised in old-school education, I believe that some of the newer techniques of education through hands-on, the use of digital technology, and through writing across the curriculum are effective for many students.

Because I have such a strong passion for teaching and children, I love to help others succeed and would do whatever it takes to do so. My teaching involves incorporating many games into lesson plans to grasp my students attention, thus making the lesson fun also. Because students learn differently it is our job to teach based on their learning style, which is what I am best at doing. I love to break down information in ways that relate to my students.
As a Golden Apple Scholar of Illinois, my passion for teaching is constantly growing and requires much experience. I have taught summer school classes and taught many lessons at the schools I've observed for my clinical practice. Overall, I have completed 120 hours of clinical experience while teaching part-time at a Learning Center, where I've tutored students in Beginning Reading, Reading, Study Skills, and Mathematics.
