A Little Bit About Me...

The beginning of everything, I've got three younger sisters and there has always been a fair amount of helping out where they're concerned. I've babysat since I was twelve and for the past few years I've worked as a nanny. My comments on tutoring Genetics : Genetics is one of our most exciting fields and I have had the pleasure of working with local BioTech companies on cutting-edge research in the area. The possibilities are endless, and the deeper you go, the more complicated it gets. For example, if the conditions are just right, you CAN have a brown-eyed child from two blue-eyed parents! It's true... look it up! Allow me to lead you through this exciting world and you might learn a little bit of family history as you go!

I have worked with a huge diversity of students and I find that students remember, relate, connect and understand metaphors, examples, and models best. So I tell my students stories about what they see in the world around them, relating lessons to the news, and showing examples that are so cool they cannot be forgotten! I love tutoring because my specialty is identifying the source of confusion a student might have in a given lesson and using my knowledge and experience to explain the science in a different way. This can include directing the students to a particular on-line resource and/or tool that can help them study outside of our tutoring time, which can save a dedicated student money in the long-run.

Before teaching, I worked as a Doctor specializing in Clinical Pathology, including Microbiology. In this work, I studied in-depth the characteristics and life cycles of different microorganisms, including viruses, bacteria, protozoan, and fungi, and performed culture and sensitivity testing of the microorganisms. With my experience in the Clinical Pathology Training Program for 4 years, I decided to teach a Microbiology class, including laboratory, at Lorma Colleges in the Philippines. I really like working with all sorts of people. There is no satisfaction greater than when I can see the spark in a person's eye when they comprehend materials they had not before. Everyone can learn any material they set their mind to if they have the motivation and the proper learning environment, and of course the right teacher. As a recent graduate from the University of California Riverside, I have earned a bachelors of science degree from the institution. During my time at UCR I developed a passion for the sciences which was taught by dedicated professors who served as my mentors.
