I am an honors graduate of U.S.F. with forty years of teaching experience. In addition to my B.A. and M.A. degrees, I completed all cousework for the ED.D. I have taught FCAT preperation in middle school in math and reading. I have also taught GED Prep in the evenings. I taught junior high math one year. I have also written two books. One is a history jokebook. The other is a memoir of humorous classroom incidents. I believe that these experiences qualify me to tutor social studies, reading, and math.
My style is student centered. I always try to provide a positive atmosphere for learning. My jokes were a technique to help accomplish that goal. As a GED teacher I always began with a pretest and documented student progress to correct any deficiencies. I believe that all children can learn and are eager to learn if they are properly engaged in the material. If children are shown things within the subject matter that they can latch onto and find interesting, if learning is made stress-free and enjoyable for them, then they will learn and be excited about learning. I strive to make learning an enjoyable process, and to teach children things they may not have heard about before, and will always remember.
