My motto that accompanies me in everything that I do is "There is no limit to perfection." I think it is important to understand that everyone can learn, however it is just a matter of how long it takes. Kids learn at different paces. They may need to be shown a different way to learn. For example, I believe that children learn to read by understanding the book,through meaning. It's important to discuss what is happening in the book. I have a guided reading lesson plan that tells me exactly what I need to work on with that student. Is the student looking at the pictures to help him/her with a word? etc.. I am very patient and kind. I love working with kids and seeing their faces light up when they have achieved certain goals.

My B.A.in English from the University of Maine at Augusta, where I graduated magna cum laude, and my participation in the ProLiteracy America program as a Literacy Volunteer was inspired by my life-long love of literature. I have taken courses in Interpersonal Communications, Ethics, and Advanced Technical Communications, all of which expand my purview as a tutor. Improving the lives of children has always been a passion of mine. My teaching career began at Lyndon State College in Vermont. During my time at Lyndon, I was able to participate in many internships. Lyndon put me into the school systems/districts as early as my sophomore year. While obtaining my education degree, I also became very interested in psychology due to the nature of some of my students.
