My teaching style is simple but effective. With mathematics and physics, the student retains an idea, with the added benefit of a solid intuition if he or she is fortunate enough to work through a problem using his or her's own insights. Guiding the student with the systematic offering of penetrating questions seems to be one of the most powerful methods to aid in the understanding of mathematical and physical phenomena.

I learned to be patient, understanding and compassionate when dealing with a student’s learning style one-on-one. I tutored math, Biology and Chemistry during undergrad and med school and helped friends with the grammar for their research papers. I'm weary of dealing with managed care and am currently a little over than a year away from getting my Masters in Education.
I believe all children want to learn. Sometimes it takes some work to find the spark that ignites the learning process. Unfortunately, a larger classroom may not be the best environment to find that spark in some kids. I've been successful with both children and adults because I have a knack for finding out what motivates them. I earned my BA in elementary education in l987 and was employed by the Woburn Public School system from 1988-1995. I taught grades one,two,four,and six with most of my experience being a first grade teacher. My specialty was teaching reading using a strong phonetic approach. I have been home raising my own children since 1995 and have been a volunteer in their schools for the last ten years.

In the classroom I rely on traditional lecture, supplemented by Powerpoint presentations, animations, and lists and diagrams on the white board. I usually assign a research paper.
