A Little Bit About Me...

Due to the fact that I was born and raised in Germany and have since lived in various foreign countries, I have adopted sensitivity when it comes to culture and characters. As a teacher I learned to be very observant before implementing a specific teaching strategy. Not only does every child have a different character, but they are all brought up in different surroundings and family constellations. Through my involvement in the Big Brother's Big Sister's program I learned that private family matters are directly related to acedemic success. I love working with all types of people, as helping people is a great passion of mine. I find it effective to teach by relating to something that the person I am teaching really enjoys. For example if they love basketball, I may try to relate the subject to it, to make it easier to learn. I have a lot of patience and usually have no problem helping someone. I know all it takes is time and hard work to achieve their goals.

I have a daughter in the 8th grade and a son in the 6th. I have home schooled them the past 9 years. They have very different learning styles which has helped me to learn to teach in different ways to accommodate their needs. I am patient and easy going and I love helping kids.
I have a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration with a concentration in accounting. I have very strong math skills, especially in Algebra, which is what my daughter is learning now. I excelled in grammar, art, health, and science as well. I was a teacher at a private school for a year after college before I started a family and began home schooling.
