I enjoy finding the way to make science interesting and learnable to individuals. That is different for every person. I tailor my tutoring to cover the curriculum and skills required by the class to meet the background knowledge and interests of the student. I also teach techniques to help in the memorization process and work with the student to tailor that to their specific personality.
As a summa cum laude graduate with a BS in Chemistry I worked for over 25 years in the printing industry. I don't have a wide teaching experience but I do enjoy working and helping Elementary or junior high leveled children. Ay my most recent job, I worked in a dept called 'PLAYLAND" where I was responsible for taking care and keeping the children of our customers entertained and busy as their parent's shopped for groceries. I have also assisted a choir class in high school for kids around my age at the time. In order to obtain this degree, I had to take a wide variety of Science courses including: Chemistry, Biochemistry, Physiology, Anatomy, and many others. Not only am I well versed in Science, I have a background in Math too. In highschool, I completed the AP-Caluculus course with a score that allowed me to bypass any college math courses. However, I have refreshed my math skills since I recently took the Graduate Requisite Exam (GRE) and received high scores in the math section. From my tutoring experiences last year, my teaching style would best be described as very proactive. Many of the students were extremely frustrated by the concepts that they did not understand. This created an apathetic attitude towards the subject. Due to the lack of interest that I observed, I decided to go through problem by problem with the students. I talked them through each problem, and asked the students questions, but required them to calculate the answer. I am passionate about the English language, but I think that writing is becoming a lost art. Quality writers are quality communicators.
