I have over 20 years' playing and performance experience. While I am no longer an active performer on trumpet, I have over 10 years' teaching experience. In addition to performing well in their school bands, my students have received "Excellent" ratings in Solo & Ensemble competitions and have performed with MTSBOA All-County and Mid-State Honor Bands.
I believe in tailoring each lesson to each student's individual abilities and learning methods. For students in school bands, I try to provide lessons that augment and complement what they learn in band class, focusing on areas of performance that may not receive attention in a group setting. A Little Bit About Me...

I have always told my classes, "Learning can be fun; and if it's not, you may not be doing it right." Of course, that does not mean learning isn’t work; but part of growing up – and selecting a career – is learning that work can be enjoyable. I should mention that it is not my way to enforce memorization for the sake of it. If you understand concepts, that is much better. I always say “an example is the embodiment of a rule”. I am always committed to a student’s success; and will not let him or her give up. The biggest thrill in teaching is watching a student suddenly understand a concept. It happens frequently, and it never gets old.
