I make a point to have fun with my students, and my teaching style relies heavily upon real world examples that my students can both relate to and enjoy. I love teaching all grades and levels. The most important aspect of teaching is to know your student. Each individual learns in different ways, some are tactile learners, some are visual, and some are auditory learners. In mathematics, I was taught early on that in order to prove something you need three things: 1. facts that are obvious/self-evident 2. relate them in a logical way 3. frame these facts and their relationships inside of a theory Engineering is just applied mathematics. I believe that anyone can do it, at their level; the key for an educator is to have sufficient people skills to diagnose the problem areas a given student might have and then address those in the context of solving a given problem.
During my time at NC State, I worked at the mathematics laboratory for two years. In that short amount of time, I learned as much as I taught.
