In addition, I feel that tutoring is a two-way street, whereby both the student learns material from the tutor, while at the same time the tutor learns how to better present the material in a way that is conducive for the student's learning. My approach to teaching relies heavily on the use of modeling. Modeling is a powerful tool in the development of not only writing and language skills, but also in exposing my students to a framework which will allow them to hone their own thought processes and work habits. Incorporating a wide variety of vocabulary-building activities into daily lessons strengthens my students' understanding of the subject area and provides a familiarity with language that will aid them in the ability to express themselves in a much more effective manner.
