After receiving my bachelor's degree, I went to school part time to work on my Master's degree while subbing in area schools. I accepted a position as a teaching assistant, and two long term positions. I also tutored a junior high school student in all subjects.

I try to adapt my teaching style to the student. I keep trying different methods until we find what works best. This is probably why many of my students have told me that I am great at explaining things so they understand it. Being proficient at math is similar to being proficient at playing a musical instrument. You can’t learn to play an instrument by going to concerts and watching other people perform. Similarly, you can’t learn math by watching the teacher solve problems. I try to guide students to the correct solution and give immediate feedback while they work.

A Little Bit About Me...

While at West Chester University, I had to take Statistics and Probability and that was because I was in the excelled Math program in high school. I had all Math courses up to and including Advanced Algebra. While attending Adirondack Community College, I had to take a Medical Math course that covered many conversions.
I love teaching and working with children and adults. I, myself have achieved a high level of excellence in education by completing two degrees and plan on completing my BS in Nursing. It is important for the student to keep his or her view of the problem and to work off of that view, rather than to change the view to the teachers. I have had much success with my style of tutuoring, and take much pride and personal satisfaction as a result. I listen carefully to how children approach a problem, and follow their through process in determining a solution. I often guide them towards the correct way (or possible several ways) of approaching a problem, as opposed to just giving an answer, etc. I also use analogies a lot when helpingh them analyze a given problem, a demonstrate how an approach can be used to solve similar problems.
