I've developed and marketed training materials nationwide, and am the author of Excel Basic Training, Excel VBA Basic Training, and Word Basic Training.

From 1990 to 2000, I was an international Excel, Word, and Access trainer and lecturer for Dunn & Bradstreet Business Education Services. During this period, I trained over 25,000 people in 48 states. My company was allied with WORLD BOOK ENCYCLOPEDIA as the World Book Education Technology Training Group, a program that trained educators nationwide. Math can be fun, especially when applied to exciting applications. For my work at NASA and the MITRE Corporation I use concepts from Calculus I-II almost everyday. Inspiring students to become excited about math and science is one of my life-long goals. Step by step visual diagrams can be effective tools for describing complex ideas. I got my bachelor's degree with concentration on statistics in Beijing Normal University, which is the best teacher training university in China, and received all rounded training to make a teacher. I am very good at math, so in college I got into the tutoring program for inner city elementary students and the student I tutored showed remarkable improvement in her math grades as a result. Many years later I was accepted into the Alternate Route to Certification II program and received my Math 7-12 teaching certificate in May 2003.
Working with middle school students is an adventure. The students all have different ways of learning, so blackboard work is a great way for them to visualize, and I also use 3 dimensional models when they are appropriate. My experience showed me that the students that wanted to learn would stay after school to get more individualized attention, which I was always available to give them. That moment when they understood the math concept I was teaching was the best part.

It is my belief that most students that seek out the extra help of a tutor have a much greater capacity to learn than they realize. It is upon that belief that all of my tutoring is centered around. My long term goal for most students is to show them how to be self-learners so that at some point they tell me to stop coming because they don't need a tutor anymore.
