I have discovered that every students is capable of achieving greatness if someone will take the time and effort to learn their learning style. I pride myself in being able to break things down to the most basic levels if necessary in order to reach a student. Often you have to know a child's personality, background, and home life in order to understand what he or she relates to. I don't believe in teaching a subject, I believe in teaching a student. During my experience as a tutor, I like dealing with the type of student who is willing to learn and put forth an effort. I like to show students how to solve the problem and then give them an opportunity to display what they have learned. Math is a difficult subject and it is important to learn the dynamics step by step. I would prefer to help the student who wants to learn and retain versus the crammer who wants to try to learn everything the night before a test. I would like to work with a student on a continuous basis so that I can see the progress being made and see how my tutoring has made a difference.
