I love short instruction/lecture periods followed by hands on activities or practice problems in class, allowing me to monitor students and minimize frustration experienced by long homework asignments.
I recently retired from Portville Central School after teaching 31 years here in New York State. I am certified in Biology/Gene Science, Chemistry, and Physics. I was a mentor for the State Education Department for 10 years and have attended conferences all over the country for both chemistry and physics techniques and new practices. I am fluent with computers and use Vernier interfaces and probes to collect and analyze data for both subject areas. I teach chemistry and physics part time at Archbishop Walsh Academy at the present and I am seeking new experiences for the afternoon and evenings.

A Little Bit About Me...

Even as a student i helped my fellow students to understand and grasp the subjects they were having difficulty with. i can generaly spinn the information into a subject matter that interests the individual or just explain it in an easier to understand manner, offted they just get lolst in the language of teaching. i minnored in math, and majorred in science and agriculture in high school, ansd took veternary technology in colledge this involved mostly biologies and lab technigues.
i have never taught professionaly, but have assisted fellow students. the methods i useed to help them were ither to incorporate the subject matter into a sumject that they had a personal interest in, or manny time i found that they just didnot understand the language of the subject so i reexplained it in simpler terms and they got it just fine.

As a graduate of one of the top state schools in New York, I have always believed in the importance of education. I have a BA in art studio, 2 years of biology/chemistry, and Calculus I&II, which has given me a well rounded education. A Little Bit About Me...

During my past three years at St. John Fisher College I have been actively engaged in the chemistry department. I have been exposed to various teaching types, one being active learning within a group. This has allowed me to develop teaching skills by explaining my ideas on the subject to my group, while learning the material at the same time. Also, for the past two years I have been an individual tutor for students taking introduction to chemistry. A Little Bit About Me...

I have taken statistics and gotten an A in the course and still have all course materials to give a general overview of statistics and how to use SPSS. I am knowledgeable on the software and would be able to answer questions on statistics because of how well I did and how I used to help others who struggled with the class.
My teaching style is to have a set of problems made up for the students to observe as examples to help understand certain chapters. I will assign additional problems if needed and focus on the subject matter that is the hardest for the individual to understand.
