I have had numerous experiences teaching over the past few years through my degree program at the University of Alabama. As part of my clinical experiences, I have taught in middle school and high school History and Social Studies classrooms. Last year, I taught for an entire semester at Tuscaloosa County High School in an advanced 9th grade World History class and an AP European History class. These settings have given me valuable experience in working with diverse groups of students with different learning styles. Also, my collegiate coursework has allowed me to gain valuable insight into composition and essay construction. My teaching style exhibits a very individualized, hands-on approach. I try to set high standards in order to prepare students for future work. I like to ask questions which stimulate students to think about big ideas. I prefer to use Discussion-based teaching when applicable. I have taught classes at the college level since 2004. These include U.S. History surveys, the Civil War, African-American History, and others. I have worked mostly with teenagers in these classes. Recently, I tutored high school students at Dr. Linda Pearson's Reading and Math Center in Birmingham, AL. I am very comfortable working with students to improve their reading and writing abilities.

As a University of Alabama graduate, I was very driven to achieve a high level of excellence in Biological sciences and math. I hold a degree in Environmental science, which enabled me to gain an understanding in many areas of math and science such as chemistry, biology, geology, and geography. In addition, I have learned extensive grammatical skills due to writing research papers and laboratory reports, along with essays in many various areas of study. I plan to pursue a master's degree in education because I feel the need to help children and young adults know the importance of education. I would love to impact students through learning by stressing the importance of educational learning so that I may make a difference in students' lives.
