I am a knowledgeable, experienced and well-trained educator. Students appreciate me because I am firm but fair and down to earth. Co-workers and administrators have described me as caring and creative. I have become highly effective in teaching strategies during 25 years of teaching. My formal education began in New York. At the time, writing was my first love, yet I had a strong desire to teach as well. I combined both passions by majoring in English with an Education minor, and earned my B.A. in 1984. My teaching style is very hands on. I like to work the problems out with the students and show them how to do each step. I love questions and I love for the student to fully understand. I want the student to fully comprehend what they are doing. If not, they will never be able to do it without me there. Confidence is key and that can be achieved through repetition and a full understanding.
As a college student, I wanted to help other struggling students as well as polish my own skills. I decided that tutoring students would be a great job to earn money and achieve some personal goals. In addition, I played college sports so my students were other athletes. I have tutored students in math, accounting, finance, English, and various other business classes.
