While substitute teaching various subjects, I discovered my hidden talent – making math understandable for youth. My other gifts include excellent grammar, vocabulary and reading comprehension skills. I don’t have a teacher’s certificate, however, and am currently choosing not to substitute, but I miss the personal interaction with students who want to learn.
Giving a student the answer does not facilitate their learning. My style of tutoring and teaching is to reinforce the basics, ask leading questions and give examples that assist the student discover the correct answers for him or herself.

A Little Bit About Me...

I have seven years of teaching experience, five of those in Texas and two in South Carolina. I also have three years of substitute teaching experience. I have taught 1st, 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th grades, and I have substitute taught all elementary grades and some middle and high school grades. I am strong in both mathematics and language arts.
I enjoy working with children and have wanted to be a teacher since I was in the fourth grade. My favorite part about teaching is when I see the "light bulb" go on in a child's mind and there is excitement about learning.
