A Little Bit About Me...

I have a BA in Anthropology which means that I have experience working with diverse groups of people and have a certain understanding and appreciation of the differences among individuals. I have many years of experience tutoring adults and K-12 students. Some of my students have included those with mental disorders and physical handicaps. I have been a volunteer literacy tutor with the Kern Adult Literacy Council for 4 years, many of my students being parolees enrolled in education programs. As an individual who has earned a Bachelor’s degree in Business Marketing , I recently enrolled to earn my Credential and Masters in Special Education. I started teaching Sunday School when I was in Junior High. I taught a little boy in my class how to read and it was the most rewarding experience I have ever encountered. As aforementioned, throughout high school, I began tutoring students in Math, English, Spanish, Science, and History. I tutored one 6th grade student who was ADHD. He had several tutors before me, but none had the patience to work with him. I started tutoring him and fell in love with this particular child. It was hard at first because everything distracted him, but I tried different approaches until he finally began to understand the material.
