My mentoring style is geared to the personality of each student, and I'm very engaged in what he or she needs. I fully understand that there IS such a thing as "Math Anxiety" (that hinders students, not just in Math, but other subjects too), so we work hard to overcome it! My students at Palm Beach State are blown away that on Day1 of each course I play a Jimmy Buffet song called "Math Sucks" and allow them to voice agreement with it. I then ask them to give me a shot at changing that perception. It's a rewarding experience, when at the end of the term, they tell me things like: "Dr B, you're a chill teacher!"
