I believe that anyone can understand the subject matter if it is presnted to them in a way that fits their unique learning style. I can demonstrate several ways to learn the same material, and have learned through my years of teaching experience how to quickly identify which method is best understood by an individual. I received a BS degree in chemistry and a minor in applied biology. I have a strong background in both science and the humanities. I am a National Merit scholar and hold a BS in Molecular/Cellular Biology and a BA in English from the University of Arizona, as well as a Master of Education (Secondary) from Arizona State University. After earning my BS and BA, I spent three years teaching English as a second language in Japan before returning to the States, where I taught at the secondary level for two years while earning my Master's. A Little Bit About Me...

Teaching is very subjective. Each individual learns according to his/her own style. What I find challenging and rewarding is to find that point where it “clicks”. I believe the best way to learn is through experience and discovery. As an example, I can describe the intelligence of an octopus. But until you actually see a video of one opening a jar for a treat, do you truly realize it as a thinking, planning being. I feel that teaching an individual how to use available resources is just as important as the actual subject. Enabling a student to go out and discover the wonders around him/her through research and education is a wonderful thing indeed.
