Making A Difference

In May 2012, I received my bachelors degree in English with a Literature Emphasis and a minor in Writing. I graduated with a 3.6 g.p.a. (Cum Laude Honors.) Throughout college, I took various education courses that focused on educational philosophy and physiology, elementary and secondary concentrations, and students with disabilities. I was able to obtain 36 education credits and in 2009, I was admitted into the school of education at my university where I was able to engage in student teachings, researchers, and observations. In 2011, I participated in the student outreach program where I would visit elementary, middle, and high schools to tutor them in English, Math, or Science and guide them through the learning process. A Little Bit About Me...

I have sons ages 17 and 20, and continually took an active role in fostering their education. From the time they first set foot in kindergarten, through high school, I regularly volunteered, supporting their and the schools’ needs. I assisted in the classroom, chaperoned field trips, dances, etc., planned and participated at parties, special events and any role that could make a small difference. I am especially sensitive to the needs of students with disabilities, particularly those with ADD or similar issues. I like to laugh, have fun, and create a comfortable environment for individuals to learn. It is important to have that type of space so as to ensure that students do not form a sense of anxiety when entering the room or when studying that particular subject. I love creating a variety of activities: group, individual, hands-on, problem solving, comprehension and reading, and activities where students have to get up and move around. As long as concepts and terms are rehearsed and relearned students will be able to store it better than if they learned it once and then move on to the next concept.

A Little Bit About Me...

I have spent the last 10 years educating young adults in both high school and college. I have taught in brick and mortar schools and in online institutions. In both, I have worked with students who are strong, natural learners who just need help fine tuning their writing and processing their ideas. I have also worked with students who struggle with every aspect of English from the reading of literature to getting their thoughts down on paper.
