I love seeing people succeed in something they have struggled with. I am easy to get along with and patient. I firmly believe in letting students work through their problems instead of showing them the answer and having them copy it. I am sure that everybody has the capability of reaching their academic goals, some subjects just take a little more work than others. I will do my best to help my students reach their goals!
Education and a desire to help others learn has always been a strong emphasis in my life. I earned a BS in Philosophy and Religion which has enabled me to comprehend students and the way people think. I also graduated with a pre-medical emphasis. As I worked through the science requirements for pre-med, I fine tuned my problem solving skills which has enabled me to help students who are struggling in these areas. During the past four years I have tutored students i ... read more

Over the last 4-6 years I've had to teach coworkers the intricacies of engine technology (basic hydrocarbon breakdown and nitrogen depleting systems) to basic geometry and electrical circuits ( from creating concentric bends in pipe to large scale automated systems). I have not taught english to an 11th grader in a public school, but I make it a fact to learn everyday and spread the knowledge to whomever i come into contact with and is willing to learn. I have recently been studying and implementing hydrogen generating systems and the effects of injecting it into internal combustion engines.
I believe teaching is best learned though practical examples (especially math). because I used to say the same thing that I'm sure that kids today are saying. When am i ever going to use this in my daily life? Its important to let them see the applications from knowing calculus based formulas t ... read more

From a love of nature, I pursued a career in the life sciences, majoring in Biology as an undergraduate and exploring the plant sciences in graduate school. An interest in the organization of chromosomes led to work with a small soil nematode. I studied gene expression, energy metabolism, and immune responses in a long-lived stage of this little worm. My teaching experience began with students at the secondary level. I have taught subjects in the biological sciences at the community college and university levels, and have tutored college preparatory Chemistry. I now work with students in the public schools from kindergarten to high school levels. I enjoy helping others develop their potential and learn about the natural world. It is a pleasure to see students grow in understanding and gain confidence to solve problems successfully.
My teaching style is flexible, depending upon the ... read more

My educational background is in chemistry and chemical engineering. My professional experience is in manufacturing, specifically in the area of specialty chemicals. My goal for tutoring is the same as my goal for teaching: teach the students HOW TO LEARN, and show them how to use these skills to learn the specific subject. I look forward to sharing this knowledge, and witnessing the pride a student feels when he or she achieves mastery of a subject.
My goal is to use a variety of methods in order to facilitate learning and retention. These methods will vary student-to-student. HOW I teach, ... read more

I graduated summa cum laude in the Honors College at Missouri State with a degree in cell and molecular biology and extensive studies in math and physics. I have been working as a private tutor in math and science for 10 years, working with students in upper elementary through college. I have been a certified teacher since 2009, and I currently teach 5th grade math.
My first responsibility is the empowerment of my students. I always want my students to have a concrete sense of motivation and what their goals are, even if it's just getting a passing grade. Next, I want my students to believe that they are capable of reaching their goals. If they are capable of performing under one set of circumstances, it's possible to perform under any set of circumstances, especially tests. After that, we get down to the brass tacks of learning: How the student learns best, what strategies we ... read more
