German is one of my top subjects! I began learning German as a child, learned throughout intermediate, high school, and college. Having hosted a German foreign exchange student in high school really boosted my conversational proficiency as well as improved my accent. Having visited Germany 3 times also has helped to boost my fluency.

I have been fluent in conversational German for 27 years, having first learned as a child, continuing my learning formally through all measures of schooling having studied the language for 9 years in all. While I was in still in high school I began helping other students with their German assignments, translations, dialects pronounciations, and grammar. I tutored throughout college as well. Since that time I've been involved in educating the Pennsylvania Dutch (really Pennsylvania German) as to words in Standard German that they have lost over time in order to facilitate a cultural farming exchange of information and ideas. It's imperative to listen and understand a students challenges. Reviewing their previous work and giving a current test is a good indicator of the situation.
