Piano is one of my top subjects! I have been teaching Keyboard & Piano For 12 Years.

My teaching experience dates back to 2002, at age 18. I began teaching in studio lessons & continued to do so for about 2 years until I was offered a position at a small company to travel house to house to do private in home lessons all around Northern New Jersey. I encourage my students to practice regularly & have found that my interest in rock music has helped me make my piano classes fun & interesting. In my class students will both learn to love music & gain the essential skills needed to be a great piano player.
I love kids & am a young mother who relates well & is sensitive to other young musician's needs. I have many long standing piano clients. In my music class you not only learn all of the essentials in music & song writing but you also learn how to how to have fun with music. A Little Bit About Me...

Mike's Guitar Studio is based on the belief that the students needs are of the utmost importance. The Studio is committed to meeting those needs. As a result, a high percentage of our business is from repeat customers and referrals. Lessons are catered towards what the student wants to learn. There is no one method that works for each student. Each student has different ways of learning, we recognize this and apply it to our teaching policy. The Lessons should be a fun and positive experience as the student progresses on his or her instrument. The primary instructor/ owner, Mike Benninger, has a B.M. in music performance from Keene State College and a M.M. in music performance from the Yale School of Music. Mike's Guitar Studio is located in New Windsor in Mike's Home Recording/Music studio. Recording can be an added tool for recording lessons, songs, pieces, and ideas.

My teaching style varies from student to student based on playing level, musical interests, and personality. I use a mix of method books and aural learning techniques. The student's musical priorities always come first!
I have been playing music my whole life. I began playing piano at six years old, saxophone at ten, bass guitar at thirteen, and guitar at fourteen. I believe it is the responsibility of a teacher is not only to present the material in a clear and organized way but also to show excitement and love for the subject. Enthusiasm is contagious; students will be excited about learning a particular subject if their teacher is eager and excited about teaching it. Part of teaching is to convince the students that the material is not only knowable, but also worth knowing. I believe all students can succeed under the right circumstances. The responsibility of a good educator is to find what motivates his students. No single method of teaching works for every student, so it is very important that the teacher knows each student well and is able to use the approach which works for that student.

Although I have only held my BM in Music Education for a little over a year, I have always sought out opportunities to hone my skills as a teacher. While I was still earning that degree, I was the person many of my peers approached to help them understand music theory when they were stuck. None of them failed their tests after a few extra lessons with me. Since graduating, I have been working at a special education school as a one on one aide, and I am constantly making effort to coax out the musical side of my students, often with positive and exciting results. Tutoring friends and students in voice production, part-writing, music theory, and instrumental music has prepared me to be the best tutor I can be for budding musicians.
Teaching, and specifically teaching music, has been my passion for years. While tutoring, I use a wide variety of methods, including metaphors, diagr ... read more

I am an extremely talented music teacher and accomplished pianist who is proficient in reading, composing and developing musical programs. I have been working part time at Alexander Hamilton Middle /High School for 3 years and have had the chance to learn, grow and refine my skills; the only thing better would be a full time music appointment. Trained classically, I am able to incorporate traditional choral techniques with a contemporary and “pop” approach that bring out the best in each student.
I love being a music teacher. My upbeat personality and engaging style enables me to relate with all levels of children. I'm very learned in all areas of education and would be able to do a great job tutoring.
