More About This Tutor...

Everyone absorbs knowledge differently so it is important to cater to each student's particular needs. I am a very hands-on learner and I feel that is the best way to be taught, especially outside of a classroom setting. By getting the body involved in the learning process, the mind is kept stimulated.
I have helped tutor since I was a freshman in high school. I began working with kindergarteners through third grade students on reading and writing. Throughout my sophomore year of high school I tutored middle school math students (ages 11-14) and helped to train our "Mathalon" team. My junior and senior years of high school I mostly helped biology students prepare for the regents exams, as well as continued in the after school reading program for kindergarteners and preschoolers. In college I began tutoring many students for the spanish regents exam and continued helping others prep ... read more

I recently completed a two-month internship in TAS/OTS in EY this summer. From this experience, I gained valuable knowledge in the advisory area. I participated in a mobile internet App project for a startup technical company. The major goal for the project is to do financial forecasting for the company. In the group, my job was to help create a business plan report and translate from Chinese to English. I also worked on cash flow forecasting. As a team, we did a lot of calculation and researching of the data from client in order to evaluate the net income for up to three years. Through the estimated net income, we could evaluate how much the company need to as an investment and the risk level of the business. From this project, I applied finance and accounting skills from my MSA program. During the time at Deloitte in the summer 2012, I learned to use audit system 2 which is audit so ... read more

My comments on tutoring Algebra II : Algebra can be confusing, but it comes easily enough with the right guidance! If you need a patient tutor who will go through the concepts and problems with you step by step, then let me know and I will help you improve!

For tutoring, I prefer face-to-face lessons, because it makes it easier for me to gauge how well the student is understanding the material. I try to explain concepts in a variety of ways to find out how the student learns best, whether through repetition, example, metaphor, application... whatever works! I have tutored kids with all kinds of needs and a few with pretty short attention spans :) For piano lessons, I would use the Alfred library of teaching materials, as that is how I was taught and it works wonders on new learners! In addition to reading music, I would focus on performance techniques and theory as well.
Hello everyone! I am available for tutoring as well as teaching music lessons. I have experience tutoring students who may need more time to process information than is provided in a classroom setting in all subjects, and I'm great when it comes to communicatin ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

As a SUNY school graduate with a degree in Mathematics and Secondary Education I have had many experiences with educating the youth. During my studies I was able to tutor for a program called Upward Bound. I tutored students in many subjects in order to get them ready for college. In order to complete my degree at SUNY Potsdam I had the experience of student teaching. I was able to work with three different teachers and teach three different subjects including, pre-calculus, statistics, and algebra. I took on a full sixteen weeks of the teacher’s workday. I planned and taught many lessons. I have done private tutoring for two young girls one was in eight-grade math and the other in geometry.

I enjoy working with students and hope that my assistance will improve their mathematics skills and also have a better appreciation for it. I try to make the problems fun and realistic and give analogies to everyday living. Often I present a variety of brainteasers to put further spark in the class session. My students always enjoyed my classes. They have that smile on their faces when talking with me in later years. I like challenges and teaching provides that experience to me and my students.

More About This Tutor...

Before I became a teacher in Philadelphia, I tutored in a private tutoring agency in Florida (where I was working on my undergraduate degree). That was my first experience with tutoring and I loved it. I liked being able to give individual attention to a student after he or she had spent all day in the classroom. I especially liked seeing a student's confidence increase after we worked together. For the last ten years, I was a classroom teacher for high school math in Philadelphia. During that time, I continued to find tutoring work – either through an agency or through private clients. Whether in the classroom or in a one-on-one session, I love to teach students.
It is easy to talk at a student about how to do a problem. But experience has shown me that this rarely works. Initially, it is important that I learn as much as I can about how the student is doing with the topic involve ... read more
