A Little Bit About Me...

Upon graduation from the University of Toledo, I have worked in two different school districts and in almost every grade level. In the Springfield district I was a teacher aid in both first and second grade where I assisted children with learning disabilities. I currently am working with the Bedford school district where I am a literacy coach and I teach students from K-6th grade to because better readers. I also work with these students on their Math skills. In my free time I work at subway and I coach Freshman girls basketball at springfield high school and rec. co-ed soccer.
I believe the key to teaching is finding what each child is interested in and making that connection. Every child is unique and learns best in their own special way. Teachers have the ability to change the world and I feel extremely lucky to be a part of that.

My teaching style has defiantly evolved over the years working with a wide variety of students and learning styles. I worked as an English Tutor for four years at Washtenaw Community College before being asked to join the part-time teaching staff. My class load consisted mostly of Composition I and Technical Writing classes; occasionally I would substitute for Literature courses when needed. In addition to my educational experience, I also have corporate experience working as a Technical Writer/Documentation Specialist in companies such as: EDS, GM, and Consumer Energy.

I currently hold a Continuing Certificate from Mich. granted in 1978, and a Professional Certificate from Florida. I retired from Michigan Public Schools in 2006 with a pension, which includes health insurance. I then relocated in Phoenix, Arizona where I taught Fourth Grade for two years. Florida Writes is designed to measure students' proficiency in writing responses to assigned topics within a designated testing period. Find your tutor now. Beginning in 2010, each essay was scored by one rater. In previous years, two raters were used and the scores were averaged. Prior to 2010, a student could have received a half-point score, such as 4.5; whereas since 2010, no half-point scores are possible. Additionally, beginning in 2010, each student within the same grade level was required to write an essay using the same mode of writing (narrative, expository, or persuasive).
