As a tutor with Webster University's student literacy corps, I worked with individuals, pre-K-adult, on reading, literacy, and writing skills. I held this position for two years along with a summer position tutoring Algebra and French with HEC Upward Bound, which service at-risk youth. I found both programs extremely enjoyable and found that all of my students were eager to learn and improve their skill set.
It has been my experience that each student has his/her individuals needs and that each learns differently. I have been in the educational field for over 15 years as a tutor, aide, and a classroom teacher. I have a degree in Food and Nutrition which contained many credit hours of science. In fact, my adviser wanted my to minor in Science because of all of my credits. I have taken 12 credit hours of Biology, 12 credit hours of Chemistry, and 9 credit hours of Anatomy and Physiology. All of these courses had laboratory classes, as well as, lectures. I also have a degree in elementary Education. I am currently working on my Masters in Counseling.
I am a firm believer that all children can learn if the right kinds of tools are used. As a caring teacher, I use my tenacity to find different approaches to teaching an important skill.
