I lived in Japan for 31 years and only three years ago moved back to the United States. While in Japan I studied Japanese at the Sendagaya Japanese Language Institute, and while living in Japan and having to function in Japanese, I received a high level of proficiency in the language, both spoken and written. I love working with children. I've taught acting at the Durham Arts Council for three years. The duties from that position included directing students in performances which I helped them create. The plays were written around themes chosen by the camp director. So, in essence, the children and I would research those themes and develop stories which I would then turn into plays using my expertise. Those plays would be performed every two weeks for the entire summer. I was responsible for preparing three classes for this project simultaneously.
