A Little Bit About Me...

I enjoy helping others and thereby learning about myself in the process. I believe my teaching style revolves around communication, compassion, and finding the best way for the student to grasp the lesson or idea presented. I feel that everyone has their own way of comprehension and the challenge is for me to discover it. I have taught primarily college and university level students ages 18+. I have tutored Math, English, Wildlife Biology, and Cell Biology. I never claim to have all the answers, only many ways of finding them.
My professional background is primarily in marine mammal behavioral biology. I am an experienced Educator at both the secondary and post secondary levels. While teaching at Puyallup High School I received two awards for excellence for my work with special needs students. I was also responsible for developing a program that was named “Best in State” two years in a row. I have excellent teaching and communications skills. I am a published author with two books and four booklets. I have written educational curriculum to NATEF standards, developed many courses and taught classes to diverse groups of students. Most recently I was training soldiers in Iraq in the repair and operation of MRAP vehicles.
