My teaching style varies by person, because not everyone learns the same way. I adapt my teaching style to the learning style of the person.
I have been tutoring in various math, elementary, and Spanish areas for 13 years. I have tutored students from elementary school age to adults. I have also tutored students all over the US and in other coutries. I have listed all the areas that I am comfortable tutoring. I am willing to teach in a library, in the student's home, on-line, or in another area that is agreed upon by both myself and the parent. My comments on tutoring Reading Comprehension : I worked as a teacher in a private school for children with dyslexia. My position was as a Language Fundamentals Teacher and I was trained using the Orton-Gillingham approach to teaching. This is a multi-sensory approach and very highly regarded as a successful approach for children with dyslexia and reading disabilities. It includes tutoring for reading, reading comprehension, writing, spelling, grammar, vocabulary, and other skills related to English basics. I have a Bachelor's Degree in Human Development from Vanderbilt University with a specialization in Special Education and a Master's Degree in Psychology from Virginia Commonwealth University.
