After completing my education at Brigham Young University-Idaho in the spring of 2003, I was hired to work as an aid at the school where I had done my student teaching. During this year, I worked with students in reading and math lab classes which were designed to help students who were struggling to achieve proficient scores on their ISAT's. I then was hired as a teacher and taught for the next two years in the subjects of reading lab, literature, and language arts. I worked with 6th through 8th grade students, and enjoyed each age and the challenges that come with that time in a student's life. I also have children of my own, which has taught me much more about working with children and helping them to learn.

A Little Bit About Me...

I have a strong interest in the sciences of the world. I earned a bachelor degree in ecology including a minor in botany. I also earned a Master degree in biology studying mountain quail. During my undergraduate and graduate education I participated in the GK-12 program as a scientist in residence. I spent 20 hours a week in the middle school and high school setting for two years. The purpose of the GK-12 program was to help increase scientific literacy in southern Idaho. I am keenly aware of the challenges that face middle school and high school students in grasping scientific concepts. I also taught biology at the college level and I have recognized that many students are at different levels of scientific understanding.
