Next, I will show him or her to solve the problem, then ask him or her to try it himself or herself. If he or she has any questions, I will answer them. I find that students (myself included) learn best when they feel safe and that they can be successful. I believe it's important to teach in the zone of proximal development and build on a student's interests. The best way to do this is begin with activities that are fun and if it's possible, to access the creative side of the brain during learning to help students to relax.
