A Little Bit About Me...

I enjoying helping people and especially children. I believe in the current society we live in today, it is essential for children to gain a good education and have role models to look up too. That is what I try to achieve when I tutor. I believe that anyone can learn anything if they are taught in the correct way. You have to relate and find a fun way to learn so the student can understand. I dont have alot of experience tutoring K-4 in history, but I am open to tutoring any student who wants to learn.

I believe the best way to learn is peer-to-peer learning. As an auto-didact I have the study skills necessary to regurgitate information as taught by the current institutional models. This is an uncreative and highly unnatural way to learn. There's a reason no major discovery was made in a classroom -- true innovation, discovery and learning is an organic process.
I'm a student at Augustana College whose academic record has ranged from public school to home schooling to community college and and even private education. I've worked as a tutor for over 2 years at Black Hawk College, at the same time obtaining an Associates Degree. I taught one semester of College Algebra at Illinois State University. I was responsible for 2 sections of lab while I completed graduate credits for a Master's in Mathematics. My B.S. in actuarial science (math) was attained from Bradley University. Also, I've been a youth minister at the local church for a year and half now and have formed a large group consisting of junior high and high school students.
I love to put myself in the students' shoes. I have the ability to relate to the students on an individual level and they respect me.
