Dyslexia is one of my top subjects! I hold a Master's degree in special education and am experienced as a K-5 special education teacher in all areas of language arts. I work with students with other health impairments, Autism Spectrum Disorder, and specific learning disabilities including dyslexia, dysgraphia, and dyscalculia. I am certified by the Academy of Orton-Gillingham Practitioners and Educators as an Orton-Gillingham Classroom Educator. Orton-Gillingham is a multisensory literacy approach that includes explicit instruction in phonemic awareness, reading, spelling, and writing.

Building meaningful relationships with my students is my top priority. This helps me to personalize the learning experience. I take a multisensory approach to teaching. I like to make learning as interactive as possible for my students to ensure a high-level of engagement and maximum retention of new learning.

My teaching style is multisensory, utilizing sight, sound and touch. I'm very patient and I love teaching children. For me, the highlight of teaching is when a child suddenly gets that 'aha moment'; when the light bulb finally turns on and the child understands the concept. As a Certified Dyslexia teacher, I teach Orton-Gillingham multisensory curriculum to students with dyslexia and other reading deficits.
