A Little Bit About Me...

With my background and degree being in music, I have enjoyed finding creative ways to induce wonder and enthusiasm for learning in my students. I have always accomplished this with the utmost patience, consideration and respect. This last quality in my style (respect of my students) has received much positive feedback throughout my teaching and mentoring. I believe that young people learn as much or possibly more from "what they see" than "what they hear" so that the example the teacher is exhibiting by his presence is often underestimated.

A Little Bit About Me...

I have been an elementary school teacher for nearly 18 years. I taught for 7 years in Elk Creek and 10 years in Los Molinos where I currently teach 2nd and 3rd grade. I earned Glenn County Teacher of the Year in 1998 and Tehama County Teacher of the Year in 2007. I was also named Glenn County Teacher of the Week for Channel 7 News in 1999. From 1992 to 1996 I trained in study skills for the History and Geology departments at Chico State through the Equity Services Office. This included a 3 hour training session each week in addition to tutoring individually and in groups for struggling college students. This was 4 of the greatest years ever! This University training really helped prepare me for the world of teaching and tutoring.
