I will fit my teaching to the client. If a student learns with visuals, I will use visuals. If a student is an aural learner, I will cater to that side. I am very flexible and take direction very well. I have taken a year or more of each language I am qualified to tutor. The languages are Italian, French, German, Spanish and Latin. As a college and high school English instructor, I have had the opportunity to teach and tutor students on many different levels. I took high school and college seriously. After college I worked for several years before attending law school. After law school I decided to combine my legal experience with hands-on medical skills, and I enrolled in a Registered Nurse program at SUNY Delhi, which I will complete next May. This summer is a lull before completing my education and embarking on a medical administration career.
I believe effective learning can occur in a 1-on-1 tutoring situation when the tutor and the student can communicate well. Tone, mood, and setting all come into play. A tutor who is relaxed, cheerful, encouraging, and resolutely intelligent is more likely to be approachable and someone the student will collaborate with successfully. As a graduate of Hofstra University, I have received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology, as well as a dual degree in Childhood Education and Early Childhood Education.
