Using the Right Methods to Unlock a Students Full Potential!

I've always enjoyed helping others understand mathematics. During my high school years i would voluntarily help my friends, and the classmates near me keep up with class lectures and provide them with tips to help them complete take home assignments. I know the importance of having a personalized method of teaching according to the individual and their specific needs. No one learns the same so we should not be taught the same!
Most of the students who require tutoring have trouble building on previous lessons they have learned. The problem is if a student fails to learn a concept in class by the time the teacher moves on, he/she will be left behind from that point on. The job of a tutor is to find these hold ups and patch them with a customized lesson plan to fit the students learning patterns. This is what i will do and i personally promise results in under a month

Testing Skills is one of my top subjects! I am passionate about the 'non-traditional' ways to prepare and score better on standarized tests.

My teaching 'style' is a bit unique, in my opinion. By that, I mean that every child/student 'learns' differently, so I must 'adapt' my style 'on the fly' after determining what is the most effective approach/style/method for that individual student. In addition, the subject that I am teaching also affects my style and some 'tools' that I learned as a youngster and a teacher are also implemented frequently.
I was trained to be a teacher at CSU-Fresno, where I graduated in May, 1999. I substituted for 3 consecutive years in Fresno, Clovis, and Madera Unified School districts at grade levels 3-12. I received my Master's Degree in Sports Administration from the American Public University system in May, 2011, and graduated with Honors and a 4.0 GPA. I am currently trying to obtain my credential and hope to be an Athletic Director one day.

It is my belief that teaching is an honor and a passion, not a profession. Everyone has a different learning style and teaching to an individual is very important. I also believe that teaching is as much a method of guidance as much as it is a method of instruction. Often times, students will learn on their own if you give them the opportunity for exploration. My goal as a teacher/tutor is to help students understand how they learn, and to inspire them to want to learn.
Throughout my high school career I maintained a GPA of at least 3.5. The same can be said for my college career so far. By majoring in Liberal Studies, I have gained an extensive knowledge of teaching methods as well as the ability to teach many different types of learners. I have put this knowledge and ability to use both last semester and this semester by tutoring students at Fresno State. This semester, m ... read more

I work with students who have learning disabilities, are at risk, have emotional disturbances, autism, or just need a helping hand. I have also taught in general education classrooms.
