A Little Bit About Me...

I have a degree in chemistry that included many hours of work in a lab setting, and I also worked for 10 years as a chemist in various types of labs. This experience has given me a solid understanding of chemistry. Through my education and work experience, I have learned how to think through and solve chemistry problems. It has become a part of me, and something I understand very well. I helped to tutor high school students and junior college students in general chemistry, and through this experience, I learned how teach chemistry to students that are struggling with the concepts.

A Little Bit About Me...

When working with children, I try my best to be engaging, interactive, and fun. If necessary, I'll use props (e.g. building blocks) to help illustrate concepts, and I always try to ask many questions along the way to make sure my explanations are clear. With older students I will use a slightly more textbook approach, but keeping lessons interactive still remains essential, and props may still be useful in some circumstances. In both situations, I try to find which learning styles work best for the student and present lessons based on those. Each person has a unique way of learning, and if a teacher takes the time to understand it, then the student's true potential can be reached.
