My comments on tutoring Writing : I see writing as a necessity and a strong tool for communication that all students need, no matter what career they eventually choose to pursue.

I recently graduated from Gordon College with a degree in English Literature and a concentration in Creative Writing. I manage two personal blogs, which include my non-fiction stories, poetry, and artwork, and I have published 5 different articles for various Gordon journals. My comments on tutoring Writing : I graduated from Fitchburg State University with a Minor in Professional Writing. Published short fiction in the college literary magazine and currently submitting to private publications.

I believe in identifying where a student lies on the subject he/she is studying before going further. The advantage of one on one tutoring compared to classroom is that the lesson can be based around where the student’s strengths and weaknesses are rather than a blanket method. I also believe that the skills used in English can be best practiced and analyzed through writing rather than worksheets and tests. Therefore, I believe in having the student write on a variety of subjects and working through these pieces to show where they can improve.
