I have discovered that every students is capable of achieving greatness if someone will take the time and effort to learn their learning style. I pride myself in being able to break things down to the most basic levels if necessary in order to reach a student. Often you have to know a child's personality, background, and home life in order to understand what he or she relates to. I don't believe in teaching a subject, I believe in teaching a student. I also do not believe in giving up. If the first method doesn't work then we will continue to try until something clicks and that child grasps the material and excels at it.

I am a visual learner and I have found that most other people are too. This means that it is important to understand concepts behind each topic were learning. For example, a topic that I had to explain a couple weeks ago was "renal physiology". I believed it was important for the student to understand that water is re-absorbed in all the spots that aldosterone acts, not just memorize where water is re-absorbed. Although, it is important to learn the skills of repetition also. I like to ask questions after we go over topics to make sure that the student is gaining understanding of the topic. Each topic should be reviewed 3 times before an exam.

I am a whole brain power teacher. Most of my experience is with exceptional children from a range intelligence. Intelligence is relative, and it is the teacher's job to highlight a student's strengths.
I am preparing to graduate in the spring of 2011 from Mississippi State University with a special education degree. I have studies pedagody and methods for two years with a range of experiences in all types of classrooms. I will be a highly qualified teacher in the spring.
