My comments on tutoring Physics : Algebra based physics

I have been tutoring since high school. I began as a tutor during summer school for students on track to graduate. Now I work as a peer tutor at SUNY Orange, tutoring a range of subjects in Math and Science primarily. I've had students recommended to me by former students, as well as former students approaching me for private tutoring if our schedules didn't fit for peer tutoring. I've run study sessions for different courses that I've taken, both for the entire class and for a small number of students.

I believe that the most effective way to learn and teach is to explain concepts and theories thoroughly before any application of these concepts. I have tutored high school students and fellow college students in the past, and working as a team to explore the concepts behind the applications has proved to be successful for students' understanding of subject matter and, in the process, furthering my own.
I attained my first degree in Supply Chain Management from Syracuse University in 2003. After working in that field for a few years, however, I chose to change my career path. I then went back to school at the City College of New York to pursue a degree in Civil Engineering. ... read more
