My comments on tutoring Geometry : Received an A in Honors Geometry in high school.

I am a natural teacher - it's what I do when I'm not getting paid. I just like to share knowledge of what, why, when, where, and how. I like the process of learning, and it is a privilege to get to witness, or even positively influence, that process in someone else. I have been paid for my teaching skills for the past 9 years, in various settings, including piano instruction, guitar instruction, tutoring at the Community College in Chemistry, Biology, and Microbiology, as well as assist teaching for the Decatur Public School District. As a student at Eastern Illinois University (EIU) I majored in Accounting and minored in Chemistry and Pre-medicine. This path provided me with a well rounded education, which required me to take many courses in Chemistry, Physics, Math, Biological Sciences, Accounting, Tax, etc. As a student at EIU I was a Lord scholar graduating Summa Cum Laude with an accumulated GPA of 3.94/4.00. When I completed my masters degree my family and I moved to the Saint Louis area where I worked as a CPA and taught accounting and individual income tax at Southwestern Illinois College and Saint Louis University. A Little Bit About Me...

I just graduated from Indiana University a semester early. I have a B.S. in chemistry with a math minor. During my college career I worked in a chemistry lab and this helped me learn and understand all aspects of chemistry and I trained 2 undergrads. I was also taught chemistry at after school programs and tutored students. I started tutoring math to people in high school but through college I tutored chemistry. I love them both. I have also worked as a camp counselor 3 years. I worked with children ages 4-13. I absolutely love working with children up through high school level.

A Little Bit About Me...

Throughout my tutoring experience, I noticed oftentimes, students wouldn’t be able completely grasp the concepts the first time when I explained to them. To resolve this problem, I have learned that it is helpful to explain the process of solving the same problem from a different perspective or using a different method. Also, sometimes after I explain a problem to the student, to make sure that the student really understands the concept, I ask the student to explain the same problem back to me or to another student who is also confused about the same problem. As a tutor, I am patient, strict, considerate and I strive to make a difference in all of my students' lives.
