My comments on tutoring Chemistry : Have received A's in all chemistry courses in high school, college

I am a visceral teacher. I like to use illustrations whenever possible, videos, photographs, drawings... I like making connections to things that may seem unrelated - I think this strengthens neuro-pathways and thought processes. I also think that laughter stimulates learning, so I like students to feel at ease - I will make myself look dumb if it will make someone laugh and relax.
I am a natural teacher - it's what I do when I'm not getting paid. I just like to share knowledge of what, why, when, where, and how. I like the process of learning, and it is a privilege to get to witness, or even positively influence, that process in someone else. My greatest joy as a tutor and professor is to witness the "Ah-ha" moment when the light bulb comes on and the student puts the pieces together and comes to understand the topic, and, perhaps more importantly, understands the significance or ramifications of the topic in relation to other topics or disciplines. As the “Ah-ha” moments add up a student’s confidence grows. Ultimately, this confidence in learning is what I am trying to achieve. Since I have worked with many different children and people I know that everyone is different. I am confident that I can figure out how someone learns best by trying different ways of teaching until we find the right way. I am very laid back but extremely motivated and I want to push people. I have realized that we all can do more than we think we can as long as we believe and never give up. I am a Georgetown University Organic Chemistry Ph.D graduate and I have more than 10 years of tutoring experience starting from college throughout graduate school. I have tutored my peers and undergraduate students in Organic Chemistry. I have been a research assistant as well as a teacher assistant for over 5 years and I supervised labs of approximately 20 students each semester.
