I am a firm believer that everyone learns in different ways. This being the case, I like to identify a person's strengths and weaknesses so that I can create an individual plan that is tailored to the specific person. I build upon strengths while addressing weaknesses so that in the end, the student becomes a well-rounded and more effective learner. I believe in challenging students and providing them with the tools to succeed. Most importantly, I am patient and encouraging when working with an individual. My teaching style would be that of Guided Discovery. This is a highly interactive style which leads the student to uncover the answer themselves as opposed to the teacher simply reciting the answer to them. Guided Discovery requires the student to learn by doing therefore developing necessary problem solving and deductive skills that will make them better learners and thinkers both now and in the future. I implement this style by asking leading questions, giving examples, making analagies and asking the student what they think or ask them to explain how they came upon a certain conclusion. This ensures that the desired cognitive skills and strategies are being learned.
